The Last Jedi is the latest in a long line of big-budget blockbuster releases for the Walt Disney Co. and Pixar Animation Studios, which are producing their own movies and TV series.
The latest, The Last Emperor, is the third film in the Star Wars franchise.
It is due out on Dec. 15.
The Last Emperor is a sequel to the 2015 hit The Last Empire, which made $927 million worldwide, the most of any Disney film.
It stars Daisy Ridley as Rey Solo, Adam Driver as Finn, and John Boyega as Kylo Ren.
Disney, Pixar and Lucasfilm are known for having a reputation for making movies that are the most expensive in history.
The company announced last month that it would spend $1 billion on the films.
The film is expected to be among the biggest releases in history, with a global box office of at least $742 billion, according to analysts.
“Star Wars is the biggest franchise in Disney’s history and this latest title is sure to take it to the next level,” Disney Chief Executive Bob Iger said in a statement.
Pixar has also spent big on movies, with The Incredibles 2 and Coco coming this year.
But its Star Wars movies have been criticized for being too expensive and lacking diversity, especially compared to the other major Hollywood studios.
The studio has also had some hits, including Toy Story 4, The Good Dinosaur, and the sequel to Monsters University.
Disney, which was founded in 1932, is a unit of the Walt Scott family of companies.
